Count Enguerrand du Suau de La Croix (1840-1914) perfected an enameling technique, applied in particular to jewelry, to which he gave the name "Emaux translucides de grand feu à double haut relief cabochons". These translucent enamels, set in an openwork frame, have the distinctive feature of being cabochon-like on both sides. Numerous examples are preserved at the Musée d'Orsay, which also holds a large archive.
